About Our Client

As the Manager, Workplace Relations you are responsible for three functions, payroll, performance and conduct and workplace relations, including enterprise bargaining. The role will see you lead and support the team to work with managers and senior executives to implement solutions and strategies across the three functions to support the workforce manage complex and non-complex employment matters, and improve our employment framework to support the agency as an employer of choice.

Job Description

In this role you will:

  • manage a team of HR professionals responsible for pay and conditions, performance and conduct and workplace relations
  • lead and support complex pay reviews and audits
  • lead and support the management of complex employment matters, including code of conduct and performance management
  • provide workplace relations advice and solutions
  • lead activities to implement the government agenda, including the APS Reform
  • support the senior executive to deliver the next enterprise agreement
  • lead and support managers to implement structural change management processes for their workforce
  • build and maintain strong relationships with leaders, employees and external bodies, including the APSC, DISR shared services and unions, to implement effective workforce solutions
  • prepare, collate and review reports, briefs and other documentation
  • develop, consult and implement Human Resources policy and procedure.

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • experience in one or more functions relating to workplace relations, performance and conduct or a similar function
  • highly developed written skills with the ability to inform and guide decision making
  • the ability to work independently and take initiative to plan and prioritise team deliverables
  • ability to identify risk relating to workplace concerns and provide strategies to mitigate or prevent the risk
  • ability to lead a high performing team of four HR professionals
  • ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organisation.
