Each member will build meaningful, consistent, positive relationships with students that facilitate their engagement in school to reduce chronic absenteeism. By the end of each academic quarter of the 2023-2024 school year, the goal is to have a minimum of four students out of twenty on their caseload who will no longer be chronically absent. They will accomplish this through: • Building relationships with students through check-in, checkouts, breakfast, lunch, recess, attendance groups, etc. • Monitoring caseload attendance using Davenport Community Schools’ Student Information System software • Maintaining records of all student contact/activities • Maintaining confidentiality of students and families with all persons other than authorized persons or agencies • Collecting and reporting data at the beginning and end of each academic quarter to determine outcomes of AmeriCorps initiatives • Participating in building-wide attendance efforts and offering support and experiences to further the overall attendance goals of each building • Assist with school-based food pantry duties. • Make phone calls to families who are on the chronically absent list to ask about additional supports needed and build relationships. • Work with building social worker or family support liaison to identify students and families in need of additional support.
