Position Objective:

To work with activists, Campaigners, and Development to secure and coordinate vegan food donations and distributions for both large and small-scale giveaways, often with the goal of securing press attention to the message that animals are not ours to eat

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with senior management to develop a nationwide plan to give away free vegan food with the goal of introducing people to a new way of eating
  • Liaise with the Development Department to secure vegan food donations
  • Work with campaigners, activists, community leaders, businesses government officials, and others nationally to coordinate both large and small-scale healthy vegan food giveaways
  • Support the Tax Meat Campaign by organizing healthy vegan food giveaways in food deserts and underserved communities seeking community buy-in, public exposure and press for the issue
  • Give media interviews to help promote our Vegan Food Distribution Program and PETA’s mission that animals are not ours to eat
  • Assist with a variety of projects to further PETA’s goals
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
  • Minimum of one year of grassroots activist experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the vegan lifestyle and animal rights issues
  • Outgoing and personable manner and the ability to communicate effectively with people in all walks of life
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proven excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and adherence to a vegan lifestyle
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • COVID-19 full vaccination and booster recommended
  • Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization

The hourly pay range for this position is $15.59 - $19.14 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
